In a beautiful house that was surrounded by a eye catching landscape lived a young man named James. He had everything that anyone could possibly want, everything except someone to share all his treasures with. Even with all of this riches he still got lonely and longed for a friend, a wife ,and children that he could share all of this with. One evening while sitting by his beautiful pond he leaned to far in and out flew his lucky coin. Soaking wet from searching for the coin, he gave up and softly wispered for what he longed for. A week later a poor man knocked on his door begging for food but instead James had an idea of for an exchange for food and clothes the man could stay in his cottage behind his house. Day be day their friendship grew so strong that they were unbreakable buddies. A year later while shopping at the nearest food market James saw a beautiful woman smelling oranges. After debating against himself he finally worked up the courage to ask her out. Two years after, James life got better and better because he got married, had twins, a best friend and everything he wanted and needed. His house was no longer lonely but  it now was a happy home.

Thinking of something that would send a good message to the world was very hard to think of until I got inspired by a classmate to create the slogan"the hero begins with you". During a project before the stencil design was a mixed media project where one of my fellow classmate drew a poster of real life people with super hero shadows. The meaning behind creating that was to show even regular everyday people can be heros in their own way. The difference is I made my stencil into a business man who opens his shirt and reveal the superman symbol. I basically took what he did, made it my own, and created something that even non-heros can relate to. In his drawing the things that the everyday people did already gave them the label of hero but my slogan goes out to the people who wants to become a hero. These are the people who want to change or contribute to society in a way. But if they want that change they have to look at themselves first and make it. Becoming a hero begin with changing yourself for the better or even just getting out and doing something for others to earn the title.

 Many people can interpret art in many different ways because of the way it is looked upon may vary. When Alex James created this blot he was sure everyone would not have the same perspective. Others might not see what I see and feel the way I do about this ink blot. Depending upon my subconscious I see multiple forms coming together to create an unusual form of nature. The head of this unknown substance looks like a head of a rat or elephant but by the elephant looking ears I would rule that a head of an elephant. He looks like he has black and beige angel or butterfly wings with multiple arms coming out of the top of the and at the bottoms of the black part of the wing. It is possible that he has another set of arms under his chin and face. Below that is his human body of a torso, hips, legs and feet. To me this ink blot could be a creepy creature from space or a cave.

 When you look at this photo of a bicycle wheel on a stool you can tell that the Dada artist somehow wanted to get a message across dealing with beauty and the world war 2. Many people disagreed with this war and therefore wanted to protest against it. To express what they had been inspired by they rejected the cultural ways of social organization and beauty through art. One of the leaders named Marcel Duchamp decided to make this artwork which he considered  an aesthetic form. This relates to the Dada movement because these artist made meaningless work to express how they feel about the senseless war. The word Dada meaning "hobby horse", was the title these artists went with because it related to what they stood for. From the quote"we'll have no part of it or its traditions. Including...no, wait!...especially artistic traditions. We, who are non-artists, will create non-art - since art (and everything else in the world) has no meaning, anyway.", you could tell that these artist were upset about the war and wanted to show it through art. I believe this was a great way to protest against the war without actually resulting to violence.

 Creating my own portraits was a very difficult, interesting, and fun experience. I thought the project would be easy because I assumed we would only draw heads of people. Finding my 12 inspirations whose portraits I would create was easy, but later I learned it had to be drawn on a very small sheet of paper, I changed my mind about how effortless this would be. Soon after the project got easy because the boxes of the grid helped separate things and make them more accessible to draw to scale. The fact I could draw a bigger or smaller picture with a grid made it fascinating to me. Learning about portraits, portrait artist, paint mixing, and drawing out people on grids I really wanted to try painting something new. Mixing the paint to make the portrait my own creation was a very enjoyable learning experience.  I’m not quite finished with all my portraits, but it was a learning experience in which I experienced creating something that was done long ago.

Many colors can be referred to different meaning based upon alternating perspectives, so this photo is in black and white for multiple reasons. One reason is because black and white to me shows a sad mood. These colors can mean multiple things, but in this photo one can see that it shows a sign of depression. I believe the artist was trying to convey the message of distress to the public by not only using colors but also using his body language. From the looks of his face people can assume that he was very miserable and some people turn to liquor or cigarettes when they are looking for comfort from stressing. From the words" Jim, if you choose to accept, the mission is to land on your own two feet.", you can see that his mission is too hard for him to land on his feet so he makes this bad decision instead. Along with the colors and body language used in this photo, these words show that he is taking the wrong route through hardship. The colors are the main part of this artwork because without black and white to top off the photo it would have possibly been interpreted in another way.

Considering the fact that this picture has all the sprite elements,  this is also one of the up most astonishing, eye catching, and breathtaking portraits I've ever seen. It's shows a father embracing his sleeping new born baby girl in his hands. For a man who would pay for this picture to be drawn represents that he really loves his daughter with all his heart. This could also imply to all fathers that they should grasp every moment they get to have with their children. If anything this should be the way of life of all fathers, for God has blessed you with an amazing gift. Fathers who don't utilize every second they have with their children should learn from this photo that it is an opportunity of a lifetime that they shouldn't miss out on. Using a camera to capture this moment would be great but a portrait is even better because of the details it displays. All of these sprite elements help me understand the importance of the relationship between father and daughter.

Post # 16 Carrie Mae Weems

I know you are probably thinking I'm using these to artworks because it's something I'm going through, but although I'm not going through abuse of a boyfriend I can relate to this in many ways. The artwork on the left shows a mother holding her daughter saying"I'd rather my man should hit me,than for him to jump up and quit me. It's a joke girlfriend.",meaning you should want him to leave rather than beat on you and he should hold and love you like your mother would. From the quote on the right stating "She had: a broken nose, a displaced jaw, one black eye, three fractured ribs, a mild concussion, and a man who said he was sorry. But sorry didn't do it! You did!", you can tell it was too late for her to get out because her alcoholic boyfriend,I assume, beat her into a concussion.  I have heard of stories about people going through situations like this and I tend to feel sorry for them. To hear about these helpless women who are physically or even verbally abuse by men angers me to the fact that some women won't get help. Even from watching television and surveying this behavior, certain women make excuses for abusive men and keep running back only to find themselves getting hurt again. Love is so blind that women keep putting themselves in situations such as the one on the right and nothing good comes from it. The real reason I choose these two artworks is because I wouldn't want anyone to experience this including myself. I would want people to be smart about the decisions they make and get away from this kind of misery while they can. Anyone can go through this but only the effective ones gets help and leave.

    This stencil design is the definition of street art because it would be considered territorial graffiti, vandalism, or corporate art depending upon the perspective and if the artwork was placed on private property or not. This artwork was done by an unknown artist who go by the name Meek but has no farther information. This artwork was in a train station in Melbourne, Australia and consist of what some people think is Meek begging for change. But the message I think Meek is trying to convey is he don't want coins but he want a change to happen for him. I think that the quote" keep your coins, I want change", is saying that he want his life to change for the better. To me, street art is more of an unpaid hobby people do for fun to get a message across to the public. Artwork displayed in museums and other places like that are paid for and they sometimes doesn't refer to the public with a message. No matter what or where it is, this work would be considered art for the fact it relates to some people and has a message for the world to see.

I like this note because it is not likely that a man would be this trustworthy. For a man to actually turn off your lights and lock the door to your car without stealing anything is surprising. When most people see an opportunity like this they just eagerly steal what they want. There are people in this world who do cruel things just to satisfy their greedy needs. The most surprising part about this situation was that this unique individual took time out of his day to write a note to that person and tell them of what he did. He isn't a selfish man who was all for his self and wouldn't have did like everybody else who was ignoring it. It is nice to see that it is people in the world that would help others out without dishonesty. If I would have found this note on my car my day would have been brightened automatically because of this good deed. I would be glad to know he didn't steal anything and his intentions was to actually help me out. This letter was the most inspiring because it is among one of those one in a million situations that would gladly astonish someone

These are images of cartoon characters from different old cartoon series. On the left is Jerry the cat and Tom the mouse. I remember when I couldn't wait to watch them when I got done with my homework. I was anxious to see what these two mischievous animals was going to get into. On the right it display Bubbles,the blue eyed blond, Blossom,the pink eyed red head and Buttercup,the green eyed girl with black hair. They were my favorite cartoon characters of all time especially blossom. They were my favorite because me, my niece, and my cousin had this special bond. We would watch this show together and pretend we were the characters and act out some of the scenes. I was blossom, my niece was bubbles and my cousin was buttercup. These two cartoon brings a feeling of nostalgia because when I look at it I stroll down memory lane. It brings back the childhood memories and bonds I had then. I can smile and laugh at the good times which will still remain those good ole days.

Many artist would be postmodern artist without even knowing it. Barbara Kruger was one of those people who often used juxtaposition through most of her art. This is the process where she place words side by side vertically or horizontally. She also has a picture of a woman in the background with a blindfold on. She would be considered postmodern because she is recycling what has already been done. People already have put words and pictures on a poster in something we called text and image. The difference is she make it her own story. This would be considered appropriation because she took what was already done into her own matter.This is the same as a rapper using someone else's beat from their song to rap off of. This art work would also be considered as representin'. She has  used this concept through all of her art works with her words and pictures to make a point. Her point in this art work is if you are confident one minute and you let someone or something else make you doubt yourself then you will be going back and forth. But this isn't a bad thing because you have to be open to both in order to be a sane human being. It's a crazy slogan but if you think about it more then you'll get it later. Even though Kruger uses what has already been done she makes it different from what you would expect, she is considered postmodern since what she has done was technically done earlier.

 Barbara Kruger has done a lot of art work that inspires people, such as the one above that says" It's a small world but not if i have to clean it."  Born on January 26, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey, where she early developed an interest in graphic design, poetry, writing and attended poetry readings. She attended Syracuse University in 1965, the School of Visual Arts, New York City, and studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York with graphic artist Marvin Israel and the famous photographer Diane Arbus. Her connections to her got her in the game of going big because Arbus introduced Kruger to many big shots. Even so she has inspired many people with her work. I have not found out if she has died or not because many websites doesn't say it. Alive or dead she has use her artwork to speak for the people which were mostly women. That is why I choose to discuss Barbara,being the fact that she spoke for mostly women issues made me even more curious.

Post # 10 Gender Stereotyping

 This picture has a man and a woman in it but are shown in two different ways. Under the man is the word masculine and under the woman is feminine, so under these circumstance the artist was trying to show people the difference between man{masculine} and woman{feminine}. The man is very muscular and strong because as you can see, he has big muscles and abs. He is wearing a lifeguard shirt, whistle, trunks and a boating ring. we can all predict from these details that he is a lifeguard possibly on a boat. I would predict that they are trying to say that men are saviors of the human descent and the most dominant. But if you look at the woman then you would see a whole different perspective. The woman is holding a pot with baby bottles in it. In another hand she is holding a math test that has a F on it. It could mean that either the woman failed the test and possibly flunked out of school. I know none of her nine kids couldn't have gotten that F because they are still just babies. I can tell by her belly that she is pregnant again and by her hair that she is stressed by working hard to raise and provide for her crying babies. They are trying to say woman are nothing but uneducated people who have a lot of babies that they can barely take care of. This is a stereotype because woman are also smart, beautiful individuals that can overcome anything no matter how big of an obstacle and not all men are in shape hero's like the man in this picture.

Post # 9 Postmodern Art

 This is a painting by Leonid Afremov. It shows of a woman and her significant other, I assume, walking down the street holding an umbrella. It looks to be raining by the water you see on the sidewalk and street. I also know that it is night because the street lights are on. This picture displays your everyday typical couple walking up the street with an umbrella because it is raining. This could be and happen to anyone, so this picture is representin' people in the situation of a rainy day. This picture can also represent layering. How?  If you look closely at the sidewalk then you can tell it was raining by the way it was painted. When a artist use representation then he or she is trying to show what can actually happen in real life if it hasn't already. Black, white, a yellowish orange and bluish purple color was layered on top of each other to make this look more real. It looks like they are actually walking on a wet sidewalk. Small details he used really brought out the picture's realism.

Post # 8 Reflection

Quarter 1 was very interesting to me because of the different experiences I had. Even from the first day I learned about cool and hot colors and exquisite corpse, but in a fun way. There was also tasks where we had to draw things that come to mind when given a word, free sketch days, drawing techniques learned, and creative ways to write your name as a bellringer. But we also had days where we just wrote definitions,took Cornell notes on things like art and race or gender criticism ,and talked about things that wasn't that interesting. With both the fun and boring ways I learned more about art then I did in my whole entire life. For example, I didn't even know that there were seven principles and elements of art. I applied them to my drawings without even knowing it then. I even used all of these in my outer space abstract book. I now see the subject of art differently because I didn't know that there was so much things going on and meanings behind the piece. I just thought you just draw and paint for the fun of it. Now I know it's more to art then that

post #7 My Art Book

Making this book was an interesting yet exciting process. Even though I didn't have the idea off the top of my head the book came together over time. To me it was difficult to find something to put on paper just like that so it took time for my work to evolve. Everything isn't going to be easy or a"eureka" moment therefore, this process helped me develop the skills of bringing elements and principles together as one. I found that since I started off with stars in general, I could play around with the theme as making it one story or each page tell a different story but I decided to make one whole story. I could make many different things with stars for example, I could have made a story about Hollywood using the stars but I chose space. I chose space because I wanted to do an out of this world scene. If I was to make another book containing stars I would probably went with the Hollywood theme and would have made my book more complex. This way it would be more thinking going on to figure out my book.

I choose this handmade book because it caught my attention with it's unique form. It reminds me of when you stand up all the dominoes in the form you want and then push them over like people do in a domino rally. It also reminds my of an sculpture of some sort. She uses found text to make her sculpture like book and arrange them in a thematic way. Susan Porteous doesn't use words or pictures that but it looks like she made it out of cardboard or paper with orange string holding it together. I don't know why this book was made in this way or what it represents but this is something I really want to know. One more thing I would like to know is what inspired her to make this sculpture?

Post # 5 Abstract Drawing "Fiesta No. 6"

This is an abstract drawing by mariana martin of color, lines, shapes, and pattern. This art shows how some shapes and color come together to make a pattern. The lines drawn are made of different colors that is repeated of the red blue and black shapes. She used all kind of forms of shapes in one that makes one big shape. For instance, the lines and half circle at the bottom comes together to make one big shape that resembles a half of an orange. It is the same with the piece in the triangular shape that looks like an upside down banana. From the title I can suggest that this is some kind of pinata or party decoration because of the word fiesta and the circles and lines that looks like it is fallen from the piece. I have also read that this picture was inspired by the brazilian carnival so one of my guesses may possibly be right.

Post # 4"The Passion Of Music"

Leonid Afremov immediately captured my attention with this breath taking painting of a woman playing the cello. I liked the creativity he used with oil and palette knife because of the different elements and principles he used. There are among plenty of elements and principals that can be applied here but there are a couple that really pop out to me.  Color is one of the elements that really got my attention because there are so many colors shown in this picture that my eyes couldn't grasp what I was looking at. Her background is like a rainbow rain whereas her face expression makes a statement about no matter what the weather is she will only concentrate on playing. The artist also used different shades of color to make her skin the right texture.  If you look at her elbow and her face it shows towards the hand and right side of her face facing the front that it is lighter in exposure, whereas at the elbow tip and left side it gets darker to show its in the shade. This is also a way to show contrast because of the way he make different colors come together as one. The background makes the picture of the girl pop out but the background its self also catches people attention. The last principle that is applied is movement. The way her fingers are pulling the strings of the cello and the way she is holding the stick proves that she is moving because of the separation and placement of her fingers.
